It’s been a big week for Reed & Mackay on the sustainability front. Not only did we launch our first Sustainability & Responsible Business Report, we’ve taken home gold!
After 12 months of investment in our corporate social responsibility strategy, Reed & Mackay has climbed from a Bronze to Gold rating. Awarded by EcoVadis, the world’s largest and most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, the Gold rating recognises Reed & Mackay’s commitment in this important space.
A CLIENT-FOCUSED AREA OF INVESTMENT
Not only does sustainability matter to our people, it matters to our clients. As the global service leader in corporate travel management, a significant share of Reed & Mackay’s client base operates in the professional services space. Often, professional services firms are heavy users of corporate travel services with upwards of 70% – 80% of a company’s Scope 3 CO2 emissions generated from corporate travel.
Travel is therefore the single most effective lever that these businesses can pull upon to reduce their impact on the environment. Reed & Mackay recognises that it occupies a strategic point in the value chain for businesses that are trying to quantify, manage and reduce their CO2 footprint and we have invested in a toolkit of products and services to ensure we are best placed to help.
THE CHANGES WE’VE MADE
Over the last 12 months, Reed & Mackay has become a United Nations Global Compact participant, partnered with Neste for sustainable aviation biofuels, and kickstarted the development of a sustainability module allowing clients to manage their travel programmes in accordance with CO2 parameters.
Just this week, EcoVadis recognised this work with the Gold rating, which was determined by our performance across 21 indicators in four themes: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. This rating puts Reed & Mackay in the 94th percentile amongst our peers.
PROUD TO BE A PART OF THE CHANGE
As Director of Sustainability at Reed & Mackay, I’m incredibly proud of the cross-functional effort across our business that has generated all of these achievements and the commitment we have shown to help our clients as they work to achieve their own sustainability goals. I’m also very proud that my Reed & Mackay colleagues can say they work for a company that puts environmental and social responsibility at the forefront of everything it does.
THE WORK CONTINUES
While securing a Gold rating is no mean feat, there is more to be done. Much lies ahead for Reed & Mackay in this space, and I look forward to sharing more as we continue to strengthen our abilities in this critical area.
